Sustainability
Aid that stops working once we leave is not aid. So we do not fund the drilling alone but the whole path to a working well: soil survey, drilling, pump, and handover to a trained village committee that maintains it. Where short-term emergency relief is needed we provide it — but the normal case is a project a community carries on by itself afterwards.
People at the centre
We decide by need, not by affiliation. Our statutes commit us to projects for all people, without distinction of language, religion, skin colour, origin, world view, gender or country. No institution, group or community gets precedence with us — including any we are ourselves close to.
Loyalty
We stay with a project after the attention has moved on. Every completed well is listed permanently in our well register with its location, country and opening video — years after the donation. If you gave in the name of someone who has died, you will find their name still there.
Reliability
We keep to the law and the ethical standards of the countries where we work. Our board has six members, and the association can only be represented legally by two board members acting jointly — no single person can dispose of the association's funds alone. Conduct by partners or funders that contradicts the general consensus in society is not something we go along with.
Transparency
By transparency we mean this: in our dealings with our donors, our volunteer supporters and the people our work is for, we act on the principle of openness, and we keep the public informed about our activities.
